A Transformational Journey Through Montessori Training

On June 10, 2024, three members of our Siembra Montessori staff, Alejandra Marin, Yeovana Mercado y Yineth Quiroga, embarked on a journey that would challenge, transform, and ultimately prepare them to become Montessori guides in the truest sense. For the next 13 months their training unfolded through a rich blend of in-person and online learning, culminating all on July 10, 2025. 

Over the course of a year, their journey was marked by deep commitment and countless hours of learning. They traveled several times for in-person sessions that allowed them to truly connect with the practice, while the rest of the training unfolded in the quiet rhythm of evening classes, week after week. It all culminated in a final, intense stretch, a full month of immersive, hands-on work—where they poured everything they had into finishing their projects, refining materials, and demonstrating what they had learned. It was a demanding process, guided by expert eyes, and a true testament to the passion and perseverance this path requires. 

This was more than training, it was a journey through the method created, tested, and proven by Dr. Maria Montessori herself. We didn’t just learn it; we lived it, as the method so beautifully requires. 

To be truly present in a Montessori environment and to effectively guide children within it, one must be thoroughly prepared—and, even more importantly, transformed. That transformation was at the heart of our experience throughout this training. 

We also built meaningful bonds with fellow guides-in-training, forming connections that now feel like threads in a shared tapestry within the broader AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) community. These relationships didn’t just support us through the intensity of the training—they reminded us why we chose this path in the first place. Together, we deepened our commitment to not only living the Montessori method but also carrying it forward as part of a global circle of educators who believe in its power to nurture capable, compassionate human beings. In those friendships, in that shared purpose, we found not just colleagues—but kindred spirits.
