An Intergenerational Social Enterprise

About us:

In Manos Montessori, Latine youth and elders work together to provide our community with culturally relevant, handmade, and high-quality Montessori materials.

Everything from business planning, operations, marketing, production, and sales is overseen by youth and elders.

This intergenerational business collaboration is mutually beneficial to everyone involved. Youth benefit from positive relationships with elders that help complement family dynamics or provide support when other adult mentors are lacking. And studies show elders are more likely to feel happier and satisfied when they are actively investing in and caring for the next generation. This collaboration helps increase empathy in youth and slow signs of dementia in elders.

OUR PRODUCTS - USER GUIDES

Sensory development is how children receive information from their environment and their own body, through their senses. In the first five years of life, children's brain develops more and faster than at any other time in their life.

Practical life activities are activities that mirror everyday living experiences such as cleaning, sweeping, plant care, and setting the table. Setting up the table will help your child develop their gross and fine motor skills, coordination, concentration, self-confidence, attention to detail, and a strong sense of self by actively contributing at home.

Gardening is the perfect way to connect with nature. It teaches children the responsibility of watering and caring for plants, patience while waiting for their vegetables and flowers to grow, and loss when flowers die late in the season or a plant no longer bears fruit.

Ready to plant your seeds? Check the Intergenerational Medicinal Herb Garden book by Centro Tyrone Guzman.
