Supporting The Latino Family For A Better Future

Raíces/Roots Youth Development Program

Raíces means "roots" in the Spanish language. As a youth development program, Raíces helps Latino teens in Minneapolis establish strong roots here while also maintaining a strong connection to their native culture.

Raíces provides a holistic array of out-of-school programming for Latino teens in Minneapolis with a special emphasis on reducing teen pregnancy and preventing STD/HIV/AIDs among this high–risk population. Raíces youth commit to staying in school and graduating from high school. Parents and the teens meet weekly to promote increased family communications.

The program is available to teens both at Centro and at several area high schools.
