CENTRO TYRONE GUZMAN -

- SINCE 1974 -

Building a vibrant, diverse and inclusive Latine* community that belongs and contributes to the social and economic vitality of Minnesota.

Centro Tyrone Guzman is located on Dakota and Ojibwe land. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and future, whose love of this land has made this a place we treasure and seek to nurture.

As the oldest and largest Minneapolis-based multi-service Latine* organization, Centro Tyrone Guzman is proud to represent a diverse group of staff and community members. Founded during the Chicano Movement of the 1960s, local artists, scholars, poets, and students united forces to uplift, support, and celebrate our Chicane* and Latine culture.

Today, we continue to build an inclusive culture that honors, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our community. We recognize how the intersections of age, culture, ability, ethnic origin, gender identity and/or expression, marital status, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, legal and socioeconomic status influence our families’ experiences and therefore influence our work.

We acknowledge that historically our Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGTBQ+, people who do not have documents, and other marginalized voices have not been visible nor respected. Therefore, we are actively committed to centering diversity through our holistic programming for all families and individuals to make our community stronger.

*Centro Tyrone Guzman has chosen to use “e” in place of the Spanish-language masculine “o” recognize the fluidity of gender that exists beyond this gender binary. We are committed to gender inclusion and recognize the contributions of all persons.
